Since 1980s, the avenue Montaigne was regarded as la grande dame of French streets for high fashion and accessories. Until now the fashion legend is continuing in this street.

2008 is the 61st anniversary of Dior house. Inspired by reinterpreting the 60’s optimism and the American glamour with a dash of color, John Galliano designing for Christian Dior sent out a 1960s inspired collection complete with big hair and pillboxes, but sans the hippies and flower power movement. The tent dress, the A-line skirt, the double-breasted boxy suit jacket was proposed in bright shades of pink, red, orange and purple. And when black and white appeared, they are also on their optimistic shades or in different shades of gray as seen in plaid or graphic prints.

To celebrate it 61st anniversary, the House of Dior reinterpreted the 60’s optimism and the American glamour with a dash of color. After his Christian Dior show, John Galliano said, “so full of optimism”. What he said not only means the electric colors and bright prints, but also the era that inspired them. In 1957 Christian Dior passed away. Galliano began to explore his new inspiration. Thus the youthful energy and geometric shapes of the 1960s exploded in fashion. And then the first outfits of boxy jackets and coats in pink, orange or violet, with matching bag, shoes and high-crown hats released.
